(Cesar Flores, Research associate, Shiley Center for Orthopedic Research and Education at Scripps Clinic, La Jolla, 18. November, 2019 )

In this webcast research associate Cesar Flores will present his group’s work on generating a large population of AnyBody models to investigate shoulder loads. The study was done using a virtual population of 1000 shoulder models with statistically generated inputs for subject height, humeral head radius, acromiohumeral interval, and scapulothoracic rhythm. The main finding was that the scapular rhythm (the ratio of arm elevation contributed by rotation at the glenohumeral joint vs the scapulothoracic joint) was a major factor influencing glenohumeral joint forces.
