Simulation of muscle activation

The AnyBody Modeling System (AMS) is a musculoskeletal modeling software. This means it is a simulation of the bones and muscles of the human body. You can test aspects like biomechanics i.e. kinetics, kinematics, and muscle activation. Hence, you can move the simulation model to show how different motions impact the body. You can test how different everyday loads affect the body.

AMS can show how an activity activates the muscles. You can test which muscles are used during an activity. This does not have to be an activity like a sport or fitness. It could simply be which muscles activates when you sit down – a posture. This could be relevant when you design a bus, plane, etc. Here, you can see how much legroom you need for specific muscles to relax.

AMS can help evaluate and optimize varied products. Hence, you can make sure that the design of a product is optimal in relation to the body. It can help you design products where pressure is divided over a bigger surface. This can reduce the risk of injuries and make sure the body gets optimal relaxation.

Muscle activation in sports

In AMS you can test muscle activation in sports. You can test varied motions in all kinds of sports to see which muscles activates. This could give a prediction of what muscles or joints are at risk of injuries. It can help reduce the risk of injuries or help treat injuries that have already happened.

Muscle activation is also important when you design fitness equipment. With AMS you can see, what motion activates a specific muscle group. This can help you design or test a design of any kind of fitness equipment. With the system, you can be sure that the equipment activates the chosen muscles. You can also optimize the equipment to target more muscles. You can even get an idea of how you can activate the chosen muscles even more.
